How to help: Supporting Feed The World

We are grateful to receive donations from a variety of sources, including individuals, foundations and corporations.

As a 501(c)3 Non-profit, we rely primarily on individual/family-level support. Through your generous contributions, we can make a real and tangible difference for the families participating in our programs. We hope you’ll use this section of the web site to learn more about the various ways you can help make a lasting impact through the simple act of giving.

Cash. A gift of cash is fully tax-deductible for up to fifty percent of the donor’s adjusted gross income for the year in which the gift was made. Current use gifts enable Feed the world to address projects that are critical, but have a limited timeframe, while endowment gifts enable Feed the World to make a difference not only today, but to also continue to better the lives in the community for years to come.

Corporate Gifts.  There are many ways that corporations can get involved. We appreciate the significant and continued support of the community through both outright donations and in-kind gifts.

Planned Giving.  Planned Gifts are those gifts designed to offer significant tax advantages to you and your estate. These gifts may also provide life income for you, your family members or friends. With the advice and direction of your professional advisors and our staff, you can establish the type of gift that provides the greatest benefit to you, your family and our organization.

Varieties of Planned Giving:

Gifts of Stock, Securities and Mutual Funds.  A gift of appreciated stock, securities or mutual funds that have been held for more than one year are often the most economical way to give. Donors can claim the full fair-market value of the gift as a tax deduction and avoid capital gain tax on the appreciation of the asset. Our staff can discuss with you which giving opportunity best complements your personal financial planning.

Other Assets. Other appreciable assets can be donated with similar advantages as those mentioned above. These include an outright gift of real estate, such as land or a house, or other tangible personal property such as jewelry or artwork.

Giving Priorities & Opportunities

There are numerous ways to help families around the world by giving through Feedtheworld. Some gifts, like mobile devices and camera equipment, benefit all projects. Or you can contribute to individual projects such as chicken farms or well technologies. See a detailed list of opportunities here.

Ecuador

Projects in Ecuador are in need of things such as a large 4×4 vehicle, research on water/tree mounds and a community tractor.

Donor Recognition

We wish to express our sincere appreciation to our many generous contributors. Without your support, we would be unable to deliver the quality and scope of services needed by the families in our programs.

We acknowledge our donors in numerous ways. Specific levels or types of giving are recognized through membership in one of our Giving Societies. Contributor names, as well as Memorial and Honor Gifts, are also displayed in our Annual Donor Report (to be published and distributed in the 1st quarter of each year).

Legacy Society

We established the Legacy Society to honor individuals who have either created a gift partnership or left a bequest to the organization through Planned Giving. It represents those who are making a commitment that will benefit our programs in the future.

President’s Circle

The President’s Circle is a special donor recognition program which honors the outstanding commitment of donors who have given $5,000 or more annually. Annual membership in the President’s Circle is achieved through an annual gift of $5,000 or more, while Charter Members have made an annual commitment of $5,000 or more for three consecutive years.

Chairman’s Society

The success of our programs is, in part, based on the strong financial support of the business community. Membership in the Chairman’s Society is comprised of businesses that support our programs annually through participation in the Chairman Award Program.

As a member of a society, you will receive:

  • An invitation to attend/participate in the annual awards and reception event.
  • Recognition in the Honor Roll of Donors in our Annual Donor Report
  • A highlight in our periodic newsletter
