Gina Raquel Tuston Torres Raquel has years of experience working with the nutritional small scale agriculture model. She worked as a project manager for the Benson Institute for 13 years in Ecuador prior to working for SRA. She also has experience working in public health and as a clinical nutritionist for 3 years in Ecuador, her homeland. She has additional training in sustainable agriculture, family development and family health, biometrics, epidemiology, scientific information management, and nutrition for the rural poor. Raquel has a master’s degree in nutrition from the Universidad Central del Ecuador and a doctorate in dietetics from the Escuela Superior Politecnica de Chimborazo where she was also valedictorian. Raquel has a natural talent to communicate and negotiate with other organizations. Because of Raquel, SRA has a strong partnership with the National University of Ibarra and other universities. She has written extensively on nutrition, agriculture development, the small-scale agriculture model, and evaluations of existing programs for the sustenance of the rural poor. Raquel also speaks English, is a wife and mother to two great children, and resides in Ibarra, Ecuador.
