Dr. Joel Black

As an educator for 42 years, Dr. Joel Black is thrilled to be able to work with Feed the World and the youth excursions to encourage personal development and international understanding.   Joel has owned a school, served on the board of three corporations, and taught every subject at every age and level (yes, really) on three continents. He loves people and high adventure, and for 37 years has run wilderness youth programs, including international travel, where he has explored some the world’s most intriguing countryside on foot or on ropes.  He is known for his humor, even disposition, and enthusiasm for learning.  A published author and popular speaker, he is also a grandfather, a gardener, a musician, and loves dabbling in foreign languages.

Alan Silva

Alan Silva was born in Colombia, South America. He is fluent in Spanish and is a very outgoing individual. As the Chief Technology Officer for Feed the World, Alan has traveled to each of our projects many times and has extensive experience with our projects, partners, families and staff in each of our countries. He has represented FTW at local, regional and national levels in every country we work in and has helped to create many of the relationships we currently have with the governments of these countries. He has a passion for helping those in need and his excitement is evident in everything he does. He has the ability to engage our expedition attendees in a fun and exciting way.

Jana Bryant

Jana Bryant is one of the most enthusiastic people you will ever meet. Her bright attitude is contagious. She is our expedition coordinator and the one most of our families will connect with first.  Jana is a proud mother of 5 children. She is a dental assistant and a CPR certified instructor. Jana has been PTA president twice, and has a passion for the youth. Feed the World is a very important program to Jana, and she is proud to be a part of these amazing expeditions!

Dr. Mary Lee Call

Dr. Mary Lee Call received a PhD in Applied Linguistics from UCLA, focusing on second language learning, teaching, and assessment.  She worked as a language teaching consultant for the Peace Corps in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon, and for the U.S. Information Agency in Hungary, Russia, and Ukraine.  She is fluent in Spanish, having lived in Argentina and Spain.  After teaching in the Linguistics Department at Brigham Young University for six years, Dr. Call resigned to marry and become an instant mother to four children.  She is currently chairman of the Board of Directors of Feed the World.

Peru Country Team

Our staff in Peru is comprised of some of our favorite Peruvians. We have experts in the fields of Agronomy, Animal Husbandry and Nutrition. They not only love working with our expedition groups, but they are true professionals that make a real difference in the lives of those we serve. Oscar is the manager of the project in Peru. He is a very charismatic leader who has been instrumental in forging powerful relationships with our local partners. Through his leadership, our program has grown by leaps and bounds and has the potential of making a difference not only in the region we work in but also around the country.
