Sustainable Farming Will Feed the World

Sustainable

SRA teaches basic farming principles so that participants can feed and  support themselves—and eventually profit from their surplus. We work within the existing cultural framework to teach local families how to best utilize their own natural resources.

The purpose is to improve sustainable farming so that people can eventually live healthy, enhanced lives independently. SRA recognizes that there is a certain pride in being able to provide for your family from the natural resources that surround you. We conduct nutritional surveys to assess the needs of each family in the program.

Farms are designed uniquely for each family with the help of the skilled nutritionists, agronomists and animal specialists from SRA. The organization then recommends crops and animals that are culturally appropriate and fill nutritional gaps, which ultimately improves the health of the beneficiary families. SRA also has a special focus on balanced nutrition for children, pregnant women, senior citizens and people with conditions such as HIV/AIDS.

Education is the main framework for ending world hunger. SRA gives basic lessons on nutrition, family health, food storage, record keeping and knowledge of a variety of grains and field crops. Today, SRA is successfully helping families in Peru, Ecuador and Kenya. Each of these locations is seeing tremendous growth and is continuing to advance and develop. See the impacts being made in Peru, Ecuador and Kenya.
